DescriptionChief Controls Office- Cards & Payments Operations Control DirectorWhippany, NJAbout Chief Controls OfficeThe Chief Controls Office (CCO) is a team that reports both to the Chief Operating Office (COO) and the Business and that operates across the bank to drive consistent and risk-based performance against the Control agenda.The team is an integral part of Barclays emphasis on maintaining and operating an effective control framework, to meet our businesss needs, regulatory requirements, and to deliver upon our core values and commitments to all of our stakeholders.The Control Office is a first line of defence control function. Our mission is to provide assurance to the Business COO and Business Heads around the operating and design effectiveness of the controls which are operated on their behalf. As a first line of defence team, our role is to partner closely with the operational and business teams we serve to drive and support the identification and assessment of risks and controls and associated action plans. We also track issues and produce management insights to help inform the decisions of the broader management organisation.What will you be doing?This role oversees the production and provision of the following services to the Cards & Payments Business including:Contact CentreMerchant Acquiring ServicesFraud OperationsUS Consumer Bank Credit and KYC, Card Operations, Customer Delivery and Digital bankThe incumbent will also be responsible for driving the consistent implementation of the Barclays Control Framework. This includes ensuring a consistent and effective approach to, e.g. Control Issue identification, remediation and issue closure assurance, Control testing, Control libraries and Risk and Control Assurance approaches.This may involve leveraging guidance and standards from other parts of the group or drafting bespoke additional guidance to ensure that frameworks are adopted, implemented and reported upon ion a consistent and effective way. The role will also be accountable for driving consistency of Control Management Information and partnering with centralised services.What were looking for:Bachelors Degree.8+ years experience working in a Director capacity, supporting Risk and Control.5+ years Financial Services experience.Skills that will help you in the role:Proven experience in leading an operational area within a consumer banking environment.Track record of holding control or risk roles in either in the First or Second Lines of Defence with significant leadership experience in this space.Credible experience of Leadership and navigating change.Credibility and gravitas to challenge and coach upwards, horizontally as well as own leadership of team members; facilitate the effective working of leadership teams.Proven depth of expertise in strategy execution, with experience of leading change across a multi-site risk and control function.Strong working knowledge of the regulations and standards of relevant industry bodies and organisations.Experience of continuous process and control improvement for both efficiency and exposure reasons.Collaborative and able to share best practice at all levels.Highly commercial and understanding the need for back office and central functions to be seen to add value.Ability to navigate through pressure, managing a wide range of priorities with multiple objectives.Highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.Where will you be working?At Barclays, we are proud to be redefining the future of finance and here at Whippany we are defining the future of the workplace and the future of the way we work and live.
